Background
Nicole Vaidisová (born April 23, 1989 in Nürnberg,
Germany) is a Czech female tennis player.
Vaidisová is an emerging star in women's tennis. A
student of Nick Bollettieri, she entered the WTA tour in 2004
when she was 14 years old and finished the year with two WTA
titles and a win-loss record of 31-8, which shot her straight
into the top 100 at the end of only her first year as a professional.
Her ascension in the sport has continued in 2005. In January,
she reached the third round of her first Australian
Open. In April, she defeated the reigning French
Open champion Russian Anastasia
Myskina on clay in the
Family Circle Cup's second round. This was her first career
win over a top-10 player.
Her all time world ranking high was number 30, as of June
13, 2005.
