Peng Shuai

This is a Chinese name; the family name is Peng.

Peng Shuai (born January 8, 1986, Hunan, China) is a professionale female tennis player from the People's Republic of China.

In 2001, she debuted on the WTA Tour at Shanghai. 2004 was the first time she finished the year in the WTA top 100. In that year, she reached her first WTA Tour quarterfinal at Cincinatti losing to Vera Zvonareva. She also made her Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon. In January 2005, she reached her first WTA Tour semifinal at Sydney. On the way, she upset the no. 2 seed Anastasia Myskina in the second round in straight sets. An ankle injury in February made her miss several tournaments in February and March. On August 15, 2005, she reached her career best singles ranking (31st) and as of September 2005 is among the top 5 Asian female tennis players.
