Situated on a private 70-acre island on Lake George at Bolton
Landing, The Sagamore is a one-hour drive from Albany, New York; a four-hour
drive from New York City on the New York State Thruway (I-87) leading to
the Adirondack Northway. Bolton Landing is three hours south of Montreal
and four hours northwest of Boston.
Description
The Sagamore is a year-round luxury resort located on Green
Island in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Originally built in 1883,
the resort, which has had a varied and colorful history, underwent a $75
million restoration and opened for the fourth time in 1985. Listed in the
National Register of Historic Places, the 350-room resort is equipped with
state-of-the-art conference facilities available for small, medium or large
meetings. The first half of a two-part renovation to The Historic Hotel was
completed in Spring 2001, with the second half scheduled for completion in
Spring 2002.
The Sagamore's Tennis Center offers play on six championship
courts including two Har Tru and one indoor court. In addition, there is
a racquetball court and pro shop with equipment and clothing on site.
Throughout the summer season there are daily clinics, round
robins and junior and children's programs. Proper attire is required.
No black soles or running shoes, jeans, denims or cutoffs, tanks for men,
sports bras or bathing suits.
