In the early 1980’s, as tennis became a fully professional
sport, Pat Cash was developing the skills which would take him to a Wimbledon
crown and five Grand Slam finals, two Davis Cup victories and a ranking of
number four in the world.
Almost twenty years later, Pat has created a unique training
and coaching academy combining the sport sciences with the discipline of
hard work. The programs at The Pat Cash International Tennis Academy have
been developed from Pat’s many years of learning during his playing
career, his analytical approach to television commentary and, most recently,
the application of his knowledge in coaching on the professional tour.
The Pat Cash International Tennis Academy has been established
at the internationally renowned, Hope Island Resort, on the exciting Gold
Coast in Queensland, Australia. A 40 minute drive from Brisbane International
airport, and a 15 minute drive to the Gold Coast’s famous beaches, the
resort is situated on 360 hectares of some of Australia’s most beautiful,
waterfront surroundings. The magnificent setting is at a level commensurate
with Pat's vision as a leader in tennis training today and into the future.
The Academy’s facilities include :
16 tennis courts (5 rebound ace, 5 hard, 2 clay and 2 synthetic
grass)
Fitness Studio (free weights, pin loaded & Fit Balls)
Exercise Studio for yoga & Pilates classes
Basketball court and beach volleyball pit (for cross training)
Sprint Track
Pro Shop and Café
In mid-December 2005, the Academy received approval
from Hope Island Resort to proceed with its expansion plans. Over the next
4 months, the Academy will undergo a dramatic transformation, which will
see its existing administration building demolished, to make way for a 9,000sf
club house which will include :
New administration offices
Full Service Cafe
Expansive indoor/outdoor seating & viewing
Coach/parent conference rooms
On-site school classrooms
HIR Tennis Club lounge
Expansive player entertainment lounge
Video analysis studio linked to 6 courts
Modern shower/changing facilities
Tournament office

Massage & Physio treatment room
The existing Fitness Studio will also receive a new state-of-the-art
ventilation system and several additional pieces of unique training equipment.

Accommodation
Academy Players
Academy players have the option of staying in the Academy
Boarding House with other players, or home-stay with families of local Academy
players.
Academy Boarding House
The Academy Boarding House is located within the resort and
accommodates players in generous quad share rooms. Complete with entertainment
area and Spa pool, it provides everything needed for players to relax and
enjoy their stay. The Boarding House has live-in supervisors responsible
for taking care of meals, laundry and general duties.
Homestay
Home-stay families are families of our local Academy players,
who open their homes to look after visiting players. This is a great alternative
to Boarding House accommodation and gives international players the chance
to experience the Aussie family lifestyle first hand, and provide the security
of a family environment. Home-stay families provide 3 meals a day, laundry,
and transportation to & from the Academy daily
Adults and Families
Adults and families have a choice of accommodation both on
and off the resort. Five star, fully furnished & equipped 2 and 3 bedroom
villas fronting the gold course, are available from AUD$145 per night. Studio
hotel apartments are available from AUD$99 per night.
