Maria Sanchez Lorenzo
Maria Sanchez Lorenzo (born November 7, 1977, Salamanca,
Spain) is a professional female tennis player from Spain.
Her highest WTA Ranking has been World No. 33, a ranking
she achieved on April 5, 2004.
At the 2005 French Open, Lorenzo beat reigning champion Anastasia
Myskina in 3 sets in the first round, which became the first time the reigning
champ of the French open lost in the first round. (U.S. Open champion Svetlana
Kuznetsova had a similar incident when she lost in the firsst round of the
2005 U.S. Open to Ekaterina Bychkova.)
