Li Na (born February 26, 1982, Wuhan, Hubei, China), is a professional
women's tennis player from the People's Republic of China. She turned professional
in 1999.
In 2000, she won 52 singles matches on the ITF Circuit, more
than any other player. In that year, she debuted on the WTA Tour at Tashkent
and won 4 matches.
In 2004, she became the first Chinese woman to win a WTA
Tour title (in Guangzhou, Tier III) beating Martina Suchá, 6-3 6-4
in the final. On October 4, 2004, she broke into the WTA top 100.
