Following the success of Jonathan Marksons tennis
holidays in the Algarve and in Oxford, Jonathan Markson
Tennis is delighted to offer an exciting, year-round
alternative on beautiful clay courts in Paguera, Mallorca.
Our tennis holidays in Mallorca were recently featured on
BBC TV in its programme Passport to the Sun.
VENUE
Paguera is a small coastal town in the beautiful region of
Calviá boasting
a clean, white, sandy beach on one side and lush mountain
scenery on the other. The town enjoys one of the most beautiful coastlines
on the island.
Swimming in this part of the Mediterranean in the crystal
clear bays of Paguera is a delightful experience. Restaurants and cafés
abound in a resort combining a beautiful, relaxed ambience with a feeling
of joie de vivre.
Paguera is about 25 minutes drive from Palma airport
and only
20 minutes from the fabulous city of Palma with its wonderful
historic quarter and spectacular cathedral, its exciting range of restaurants
and shops and, of course, the famous harbour and beach. If you are in the
mood, the nightlife in Palma is an experience not to be missed. There are
excellent bus links between Paguera and Palma and also metered taxis which
are reasonably priced.
For those with quieter yet still adventurous tastes, there
are many areas close to Paguera worthy of exploration. Along the coast is
the glamorous port of Andratz with its romantic, candle-lit restaurants offering
traditional Mallorquin cuisine and stunning views. Another harbour just 10
minutes away from Paguera is Puerto Portals also known as Portals Nous where
one can dine by the water gazing at the most fabulous yachts on the island.
Just a few minutes into the mountains behind Paguera are the idyllic mountain
villages of Es Capdellà and Galilea. The short drive to these places
offers some of the most beautiful mountain scenery imaginable. Other fascinating
places to see are Sóller and its port Puerto de Sóller, Fornalutz,
Deia and Banyalbufar. All are comfortably within reach by car. One other
place of interest accessible by car is Porto Cristo which has a cave with
the largest underground lake in Europe. A tour of the cave includes a trip
in a rowing boat across part of the lake in an eerie silent darkness. If
you prefer to stay put, you can swim, sunbathe, eat and drink at the tennis
club or the hotel.
The coaching will take place at the Tennis Center Paguera.
The club is just 5 minutes walk from either of our two chosen hotels.
It is set in a tranquil location surrounded by pine forests and mountains
and is just a short walk from the beach as well as numerous shops and restaurants.
There are 15 clay courts with floodlights, two swimming pools, a restaurant
overlooking the courts, tropical gardens and a pro shop.
