Club Med-Kamarina
Scoglitti (Ragusa), Italy
Kamarina is located outside Ragusa on the southwest coast
of Sicily. This large family village consists of a hotel and Italian-style
bungalows set amid bougainvillea and olive trees beside a sandy beach. It
has particular appeal to tennis players because of its complex of 28 mostly
clay tennis courts (11 with lights). Its other land sports include a circus
school with a high trapeze and archery, volleyball, and cycling. New on the
agenda is our in-line skating school (half-pipe), skateboard and BMX. Water
sports available are sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking for all levels.
An solid choice for families with children of all ages, Kamarina
welcomes those as young as age 2 at the Petit Club with activities for older
children including soccer school.
Kamarina is one of four clubs in Europe and North Africa
where Club Med has established its own Tennis Academy. The programs were
designed in collaboration with Serge Autexier, a technical and physical coach
for Davis and Fed Cup players, and Thierry Champion, an international coach
and former French Davis Cup player.
Although there is free instruction for all at the Club, the
Academy programs are more comprehensive and come at a surcharge. For children
4-10, the fee is 45 for 45-minute sessions on each of three days. For
children 11+, it is 160 for three days of three hour sessions. And
for adults, it is 300 for five days of four-hour sessions.
